Students who survived the liquefaction disaster took part in the first face-to-face learning at the disaster emergency school SD Inpres Balaroa, Palu, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia on October 18, 2021. After studying online due to the COVID-19 pandemic for almost two years, the emergency school located in the residential area Balaroa continues to carry out direct learning activities by implementing strict health protocols. The local government’s decision to reopen schools was taken after the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the region showed a significant decline.
